SILKY SOFT WATER FEEL

The first shower feels different right away.

Soft water feels smoother on your skin, almost slippery in a clean way. Shampoo and body wash lather faster, the foam feels richer, and every rinse feels smoother, with less of that dry hard water drag.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Key: Ion Exchange Softening

Hard water contains tiny minerals you cannot see or smell, but you can feel them.

These minerals can make water feel rough on your skin. They can also mix with shampoo and body wash, creating a sticky film called soap scum. That is why hard water often feels less smooth and makes it harder to get rich foam.

The softener inside SoftWaterCare uses ion exchange technology to help reduce calcium and magnesium, the minerals that make water hard.

With fewer hard minerals in soft water, your shower feels softer, shampoo and body wash foam better, and your skin gets that smooth, slippery soft water feel.

Now you know what the softener does. So why do we also add an ACF filter?

Shower water does not only contain hard water minerals. It may also contain unwanted substances, the same kinds of things many shower filters are made to reduce.

That is why SoftWaterCare also includes an ACF filter. It helps reduce unwanted substances such as:

  • Chlorine
  • VOCs
  • THMs
  • Heavy metals
  • Rust
  • Microplastics
  • Industrial contaminants
  • Pharmaceutical contaminants
  • Pesticides & insecticides
  • Unpleasant odors

These substances can also affect your hair and skin, so it makes sense to reduce them before the water reaches your body.

In simple words, the ACF filter helps clean the water, and the ion exchange softener helps soften it.

Together, they give you cleaner, softer shower water in one system.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

ACF Filter
Keeps cleaning the water before it reaches the softener.

Replace based on household size:

  • 1 person: about every 9 months
  • 2 people: about every 6 months
  • 3+ people: about every 3 months

Water Softener
The softener can last 10+ years with regular recharge.

Over time, the resin fills up with hard-water minerals and needs to be recharged.

How to tell if it is time to recharge:

  • The soft, slippery shower feel starts to fade.
  • Use the included hardness test strip to check.
  • For single-person use, recharge about once a month.

Recharge is simple: circulate saltwater through the softener with the pump to help restore softening power.

📍 Click here for full recharge details.

SYSTEM DIMENSIONS

  • Overall Width: 15 in / 38 cm
  • Softener Tank Height: 19 in / 48 cm
  • Softener Tank Width: 8 in / 20 cm
  • ACF Filter Height: 12 in / 30 cm
  • ACF Filter Width: 4 in / 10 cm

The larger size is intentional. It allows the softener to hold more resin, so it can soften more hard water before each recharge and help reduce how often you need to recharge the system.

You can place it outside the bathtub, or on the shower floor near the wall. When you shower, water flows down at an angle from the handheld shower head, so the system stays out of the way and does not affect your normal shower.

SHIPPING & WARRANTY & RETURNS

Free and Fast Shipping
Choose free economy shipping in 7-10 days, or expedited shipping in 2-5 days for an extra $20.

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
Try SoftWaterCare for 30 days. If it is not the right fit, you can return it.

2-Year Warranty
Your system is covered for 2 years. If something goes wrong, we will help troubleshoot and provide replacement parts when needed.

Easy set up. Reading the directions took longer than the set up. I’ve had this for about two weeks and so far so good. My dry skin and hair are thanking me. Eventually, I’ll probably route it to the showerhead instead of the handheld shower.

I’m posting this video so you can see the water pressure after going through the filter. Basically there was no change in pressure for me.

Tricky part was that it doesn't warn you anywhere explicitly before getting this setup that it only works with removable shower heads. Had to order a new shower head and wait extra 10 days before using the filter. I think so far it's good, the water does feel softer and easier on my hair, even though it's only been a week. On the test strips the only difference I am seeing between non filtered and the filtered water is the hardness level, it is very high in my house and the filter does completely remove it. All other colors on the strip look the same though - is that how it should be? I think if it does prove to be softening and filtering the water well over time this can be a great setup.

Noticeable difference in my hair and skin. Have been struggling with flakiness and dryness for years. Have noticed a significant reduction in redness and itchiness.

This system is good. it’s better than the ShowerStick because you don’t have to constantly recharge it. I can feel the difference in the water, and the equipment seems robust. everything you need was included. There are two downsides to this system: 1. it’s big. however, if you look at my photos, I came up with a solution that looks pretty good and wasn’t difficult to do. 2. hot water lag time. there is a lot of water in the resin tank, so it takes a bit to heat it up for your shower. you have to be careful that you don’t get it too hot or cold. this is just a trade off you must make if you want actually soft water with a point-of-use system. I had to buy different hoses for my specific installation strategy, but that’s not really a downside. so, if you’re the kind of person who isn’t afraid to do a bit of DIY and maintenance, and you want soft water, this is the correct choice.

Customer video review of Shower Water Softener System for Hard Water

This shower water softener has been an absolute game changer for both my hair and my skin. I live in San Diego, where the water is extremely hard, and I noticed a difference almost immediately. Before using it, my hair always felt dry and tangled after washing. Now, my hair is noticeably softer, and I can actually run my fingers through it before I even apply conditioner—which never happened before. My skin has improved just as much. I still use lotion out of habit, but I no longer feel like I need it after every shower because my skin doesn’t feel tight or dry anymore. I’ve been so impressed that I’ve recommended it to several friends, and I even told one of my doctors about it. She lives in an apartment and said she was going to order one right away after hearing about my experience. If you live in an apartment and deal with hard water, I honestly think this is one of the best purchases you can make. It’s made such a noticeable difference in my daily routine, and I only wish I had bought one sooner. Highly recommended!

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System for Hard Water

It really helped with my skin and hair! I’ve noticed a difference. My body is also much softer now. I take care of myself already (lotions , good shampoos, etc.) but this really ties it all together. If you can, do it! Not looking forward to letting it charge or whatever lol but I do really like it. 2 negatives are the space it’ll take in your shower and it looks a little intimidating to set up. Overall would recommend

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

I’m a student living in a rental, and the water here was horrifically hard. The water heater likely hasn’t been replaced in decades, and here in North Dakota, the water can already be very hard. My skin felt extremely dry, and a lot of soap scum was building up in the shower. I wanted a water softener that could actually work well under these conditions, and I was not disappointed with this purchase. The water has felt softer and cleaner for months, my skin feels and looks better, and the recharges are effective, lasting a couple of weeks depending on usage. I highly recommend this for people in a similar situation. Was very worth it for me.

We were very impressed with everyhting! Since the first shower the water quality and feeling after was night and day. We should have purchased this years ago. The setup was so simple and they provide everything and more than you’ll need to get started and to regen the system. The water test strips are also an added bonus that lets you keep track of the state of your water and when you need to regen. We didn’t have space in the shower but the extended hose they provide let us easily place it next to the tub so we still have %100 of the space in the shower. I’ve already told all my neighbors in my apartment complex about it and will continue to! Lastly the customer service has been one of the best I’ve experienced. Our original shipment got lost by the carrier and they immediately shipped another one out. 10/10 for the product and the experience! Thank you so much.

Finally I can shower everyday. The water here is so hard I literally stopped talking daily showers because it dried out my skin so badly even lotion wouldn't help. Thanks for offering affordable soft water system for the shower. Love it

Its been a great experience with the water softner. Exactly what I was looking for as I cannot install the traditional water softner system in my house because of the way the pipes are laid out. If the whole recharging system with the pump is the part of the tank cap then it would have been a perfect solution.

Shower Water Softener System for Hard Water

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

In a rental with me and my 4 girls. The hard water was killing our hair and skin and I’m glad we found this solution. We’ve had less eczema, and our hair is happier and healthier. I feel like the charge doesn’t last long - like 1, maybe 2 weeks (probably because we use a lot of water between 5 shower-loving females), but I’m getting used to the recharge routine. As long as I plan ahead, it’s not too bad. I use soft water pellets, but might start using fine salt (of course, non-iodized and not sea salt) because dissolving the pellets is the most annoying part. I set up a mini table outside the tub and put a silicone lipped mat under the set-up so any possible leaks will drain into the tub so it doesn’t have to sit in my tub. Picture shows the recharge. I have to tie the poor things tubes up so they don’t kink😆. I’m wondering if that’s part of why peoples pumps burn out quickly? Overall I’m grateful for the solution to hard water in a rental.

I’ve only had this for about a month but the effects were immediately noticeable. My hair before and after using this filter was like night and day! So happy with this purchase! I didn’t realize how much the hard water was hurting my hair. Can’t wait to see what it looks like in 2-3 months :)

Shower Water Softener System

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

I live in Santa Clarita, but I used to live in San Francisco, where the water is much softer, and I never had any hair issues. After moving here, the hard water and dry climate caused a lot of problems for my hair, including dermatitis that I’d never experienced before. Since installing this water softener, I’ve seen a big improvement—my hair feels healthier, and the dermatitis has noticeably improved. My skin feels softer too. The only downside is I have to regenerate it more often because of how hard the water is here, but it’s definitely been worth it.

Shower Water Softener System

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

Fairly easy set up..make sure to get some tape for the water valves and screws. Everything is the kit is great and do see a big difference in my water. It is softer and after the set up I had others also try it out. They want one of their own. I will say after testing a few times and checking everything youre pretty much set to go. I am having to pick up something to move the handheld shower head downward since the shower head is so powerful (not bad at all i prefer it) I've been referring people to get this. Hopefully they will have a bigger tank or even a square shower head with the handheld later down the line. I really do enjoy the product and can't recommend it enough.

Works great, after installing I could immediately feel a difference. Our water was super hard and this has made it so much better. The installation was easy and recharging it is easy. It is a little big but definitely worth the space it takes up. Overall after 3 weeks I love it

Shower Water Softener System

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

It may be a big and sort of unsightly mechanism sitting in your shower, but WHO CARES! It works MAGIC!!!! It was fairly easy to set up. I did it myself with my 20-month-old watching me and it only took about 15 minutes! I used to dread taking showers in our new house because my hair was so hard to wash, I couldn't run my fingers through it. But now, my shampoo suds' up so easily and my hair feels so light and smooth! I can also tell my skin is doing much better. I even turn on the shower to wash my face in the morning because it's that great! If you can't or don't want to get a whole house water softener, this is the ticket!

Shower Water Softener System

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

Very surprised with this product. I knew about resin based softeners are the best but was hesitant initially. It was proven very easy to install and made the water soft. Full stop. Price is also great. Highly recommended if you only want soft water to shower and don't want the hassle of plumbing changes at a reasonable price.

Shower Water Softener System

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

I was skeptical at first but it works! Great solution for an apartment or condo/townhome where you are unable to install a whole house system.

Shower Water Softener System

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

Great system. Works as intended. My water was showing very hard on my water strip tester and now shows 0. You can immediately tell that the softener is working as you can feel the slickness of the water on your skin. I can also tell it's helping a lot with the chlorine as after getting used to the shower I can smell the chlorine when I use my bathroom faucet. Hair and skin feels great. I got it primarily because I deal with skin issues and this option was my last hope as a renter. I was also able to keep my shower head by buying a T fitting and a shower switch valve. The negatives of this is a slight drop in water pressure and it takes a lot longer to get hot water as you have to offset the cold water in the tank. I was hesistant because recharging seems like a hassle, but they have valves you can turn to make it easy and quick. This was worth every penny.

Shower Water Softener System

Customer video review of Shower Water Softener System

This water softening system is truly life-changing. I’m 26 years old and recently moved to an area in Florida with extremely hard water, which severely damaged my hair. For background, I have always had long, dark hair down to my waist. After moving here, the hard water caused so much breakage that I couldn’t keep my hair long and constantly had to cut it short. The system took me about 15 minutes to install, and I noticed a difference immediately after using it. My hair feels silky again, and my skin isn’t nearly as dry. Before using this product, my hair had heavy mineral buildup after showering—it looked dull and was difficult to even run my fingers through. Now, my hair is glossy and shiny again, and it’s only been a few days. I can’t wait to see the difference a full month of using this soft water system will make for my hair and skin. Most importantly, I’m finally going to be able to grow my hair back to the length I’ve always loved. I’m so excited for it to be healthy and shiny again at that length. Thank you, SoftWaterCare team! I’ll be singing this product’s praises from the rooftops!

The water softener system has been great so far. It’s an awesome feeling to feel your hands and body so soft and sudsy knowing your water is soft and pure against your skin.

Shower Water Softener System

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

So far after a few showers I thought it helped with dry skin and making my hair feel clean. Only concern is the amount of water that gets wasted while waiting for the water to heat up through the filter. We have only used it for a couple weeks so will take more time to really see its full potential.

Customer photo review of Shower Water Softener System

So I basically live top of what was once the largest gold mine in the western hemisphere (Meaning water quality is abysmal). The water is so hard in this area that it got to the point where I was getting anxious about even showering. So I would either get multiple jugs of distilled water and heat them up and shower that way or get a hotel room and that is just unsustainable. I discovered this on some Reddit thread and thought it would be good since I'm renting a place and I can take it with me when I leave. Don't get me wrong- I was skeptical, but desperate. I'm happy to confirm that it works very well. As you can see the water hardness from my sink is bright purple (very hard based on test strips). But using the soft wafter care system, my shower water is the blue (low). This test test was taken after I recharged it for the first time. So I'm happy to report that it's working just as well as the first time after recharging now.

I moved to Las Vegas a year ago and no one here told us how bad the water was and my family started experiencing skin issues and hair issues. So….. I had the water checked and our TDS is over 800 and there are lots of toxic chemicals in the water. I bought Sante water filters and our symptoms improved some but I was still having a lot of itchy skin and hair damage so I ordered the soft water kit to add to it and now I don’t have any skin issues or hair issues. This system works great. It was easy to install and seems easy to clean from instructions. Replacement filters are more cost efficient than others too.

Shower Water Softener System

How the System Works

The Problem

First, we need to understand what is actually wrong with your shower water.

In most cases, there are two problems:

  • Dirty water: contains unwanted substances like chlorine and other contaminants.
  • Hard water: contains hard minerals like calcium and magnesium.

Both problems can affect your hair and skin. And they need two different solutions.

The Solution

Dirty water is the easier problem. Shower filters help reduce chlorine and other unwanted substances. The first part of our system, the ACF filter, is built for this job.

But filter cannot soften hard water.

Hard water is the harder part. Hard water minerals need ion exchange softening. The second part of our system, the softener, swaps calcium and magnesium for softer minerals, so the water becomes truly soft.

That is the real difference between our system and a shower filter.

SoftWaterCare brings both together: ACF filtration for dirty water and ion exchange softening for hard water. Clean water plus truly soft water, all in one shower system.

Feel the Difference in Your First Shower

Shampoo and body wash foam up faster, and the water feels smoother on your skin. You may notice less of that dry, rough feeling hard water can leave behind.

Your skin starts to feel more comfortable after showering. It may feel less tight, less dry, and softer to the touch throughout the day.

Hair feels easier to brush, rinse, and style. It can feel lighter, look smoother, and have less of that dry, frizzy hard water feel.

As hard water buildup becomes less of a daily problem, your skin and hair get a break from constant stress. Dryness, dullness, and texture can slowly feel less noticeable.

Find Your Best Shower Water Solution

What do you notice in your shower water?

What do you notice?

What budget range feels realistic?

Your budget?

Where do you live?

Where do you live?

Best fit: Shower filter

If chlorine is your main issue, a basic shower filter under $50 is enough. It can reduce some unwanted substances in your water, including chlorine.

Best fit: Filtered showerhead

If chlorine is your main issue and your budget is $100 to $300, a filtered showerhead is a better fit. It works like a shower filter, but with a better look and a more thoughtful design.

Best fit: Whole-home filter

If chlorine and other unwanted substances are your main issue, a whole-home filtration system can help treat water across the house. For best results, consult a local water professional.

Budget mismatch

If you are seeing scale, the issue is hard water. A low-budget shower filter may fit the price, but it will not truly solve hard-water minerals. Consider increasing the budget for a true shower softening system.

Best fit: SoftWaterCare

If scale is part of the problem and your budget is $100-$300, SoftWaterCare is likely the best-fit path. It combines ACF filtration and ion exchange softening for cleaner, softer-feeling shower water without whole-house plumbing.

Best fit: SoftWaterCare

You may have the budget for larger systems, but apartment and rental living usually makes whole-house plumbing difficult or impossible. SoftWaterCare focuses on the shower, so you can address hard-water scale and shower feel without permanent home changes.

Best fit: Whole-house softener

If you own the home and have a $2,000+ budget, a whole-house softener should be the first option to consider. It can help address hard water across plumbing, laundry, toilets, kitchen water, and showers. If you only care about shower hard water, SoftWaterCare is a cheaper, more focused alternative.

You May Have Hard Water and Not Know It

Hard water affects many homes around the world. You cannot see it, but you can feel its effects through dry skin, dull hair, and stubborn buildup. If you live in one of these areas, hard water may be part of your daily routine. See the global hard water map below.

The U.S. is one of the countries most affected by hard water.

  • Distribution: Around 85% of households use hard water.
  • Hotspots: The Midwest (e.g., Indiana, Iowa), Southwest (e.g., Arizona, Nevada), and Texas have some of the hardest water, often exceeding 180 ppm.
  • Cause: Groundwater passes through mineral-rich layers like limestone, picking up high levels of calcium and magnesium.

Canada’s water hardness varies widely by region.

  • Distribution: The Prairie Provinces (like Alberta and Saskatchewan) commonly have hard or very hard water.
  • Hardness levels: Some areas reach 300–400 ppm, while places like British Columbia and eastern provinces tend to have softer water.
  • Cause:Regions using groundwater often have higher mineral content, while surface water sources like lakes typically result in softer water.

Water hardness in the UK varies by region:

  • Southern and Eastern England have the hardest water, especially areas like London, Essex, Kent, and Hertfordshire, where hardness often exceeds 250–300 ppm.
  • Central England also experiences moderately hard to hard water, including cities like Birmingham and Oxford.
  • Soft water is found in most of Scotland, Wales, and Northwest England, where the geology contains fewer minerals.

Water hardness across Europe varies significantly based on geography and water sources.

  • Western Europe (e.g., Germany, northern France, Belgium): Often has hard to very hard water, sometimes over 300 ppm.
  • Southern Europe (e.g., Italy, Greece, southern Spain): Water tends to be hard due to reliance on groundwater.
  • Northern Europe (e.g., Sweden, Finland, Norway): Mostly soft water from lakes, rivers, and glacial sources.

Australia mostly has soft to moderately hard water, but some areas experience high hardness.

  • Harder areas: Adelaide, parts of Brisbane, and northern Perth suburbs often exceed 130–200 mg/L.
  • Softer areas: Cities like Melbourne and Hobart enjoy very soft water, usually below 50 mg/L.
  • Cause:: Water hardness depends on the source—groundwater tends to carry more calcium and magnesium than surface water.

You May Have Hard Water and Not Know It

Hard water affects many homes around the world. You cannot see it, but you can feel its effects through dry skin, dull hair, and stubborn buildup. If you live in one of these areas, hard water may be part of your daily routine. See the global hard water map below.

Hard water damages hair and skin.

Effects of Hard Water on Hair and Skin

When hard water reacts with soap, it forms soap scum—a residue that clogs pores and strips away your body’s natural oils. The result? A cascade of frustrating issues:

  • Hair Problems: Dry, brittle, and frizzy hair that's hard to manage. Increased hair loss, breakage, and faster fading of hair color.
  • Skin Issues: Dry, itchy skin and scalp, with worsened dandruff, eczema, and other conditions.
  • Soap Issues: Poor lathering leads to overuse, drying out skin and hair further.

Hard water doesn’t just impact your shower experience—it affects your overall hair and skin health. It’s time to take control and find a better solution!

Shower Filters Cannot Soften Hard Water

Don’t Be Fooled by Misleading Claims

If you have tried a shower filter for hard water and felt no real change, there is a reason.

Shower filters can help reduce chlorine, odor, and some unwanted substances. But hard water comes from minerals like calcium and magnesium.

No matter what big brands claim, filtration alone cannot truly soften hard water. For that, you need real ion exchange softening.

Whole House Softeners Are Not for Everyone

Maybe you already know the damage hard water can cause—and that only a softener can truly fix it. Whole-house softeners work, but they come with some clear drawbacks:

  • Too Expensive: Often over $2,000.
  • Hard to Install: Requires cutting into pipes and hiring a plumber.
  • Not Allowed in Apartments: Most rentals don’t allow major plumbing work

If you're just trying to fix hard water in the shower, spending that much may not make sense. Here’s a more affordable and effective solution.

Made for Apartments and Rentals

SoftWaterCare gives you softer shower water without changing your plumbing. It is easy to install, easy to remove, and made for everyday bathrooms.

  • No landlord approval needed
  • No pipe cutting
  • No plumber required
  • No permanent changes
  • Installs in minutes
  • Fits all standard showers

    Shower Softener Recharge Instructions

Over time, the resin in the softener becomes saturated with hard minerals and loses its softening ability. This is when the system needs to be recharged.

How to tell if it’s time to recharge:

    • The slippery, soft feel of water during showers starts fading.
    • Use the included hardness test strip to confirm.
    • For single-person use, recharge about once a month.

    Recharge Steps:

    • Action: Circulate saltwater between the container and softener using the pump.
    • Principle: Saltwater contacts the resin to remove hard minerals and restore softening power.
    • Result: Boosts recharge efficiency and keeps your system working at its best.

    FAQ

Do water softener shower heads work for hard water?

Water softener shower heads use filters to capture hard water minerals like calcium and magnesium. While they provide a solution, their effectiveness is limited. The compact size of shower heads doesn’t allow enough space for sufficient filtering agents, meaning the softening effect may not even last through a single shower.

Do shower filters work for hard water?

Shower filters can effectively remove chlorine, offering basic water purification. However, they cannot soften hard water. Many brands blur the line between purification and softening, misleading consumers. True soft water requires removing minerals like calcium and magnesium—something shower filters simply can’t do.

What is the difference between purification and softening of water?

Water purification and softening address two different concerns. Purification removes harmful substances like sediments, chemicals, disinfectants, and chlorine byproducts to make water safer for use. Softening, on the other hand, specifically removes minerals like calcium and magnesium, which cause water hardness.

While purification focuses on eliminating contaminants, softening is about reducing mineral content to protect your hair, skin, and home from the effects of hard water. Both processes play vital roles in improving water quality.

Which is better, a water softener or a water filter?

For drinking water, a filter is often enough. It removes harmful substances while retaining trace minerals beneficial to your body, making a water softener unnecessary.

For shower water, protecting your hair and skin requires both purification and softening. A filter removes contaminants, while a softener eliminates hard water minerals like calcium and magnesium. Together, they ensure the best water quality for your shower.

How to soften hard water for shower?

For a long-term solution, install a whole-house water softener to tackle hard water throughout your home.

If you’re on a budget or renting, a compact point-of-use shower softener offers an affordable and convenient way to enjoy soft water in your shower.

What’s the difference between SoftWaterCare and ShowerStick?

The ShowerStick is a portable, stylish, and compact shower water softener. However, its smaller size means it holds less resin, requiring a manual recharge every three showers. While it’s sleek in design, this frequent maintenance can be inconvenient.

SoftWaterCare, on the other hand, is larger and more efficient. It softens water for up to one to two months before needing a recharge. It also includes a pre-filter to purify water and protect the softener, offering added functionality. Plus, it’s more affordable than the ShowerStick, making it a cost-effective option.

If appearance and style are your priorities, the ShowerStick is a great choice. But if you value performance, convenience, and affordability, SoftWaterCare is the better option.

What are the advantages of the SoftWaterCare shower softening system?

Compared to Shower Filters: SoftWaterCare uniquely softens water while delivering more thorough purification.

Compared to ShowerStick: It lasts longer between recharges and features advanced purification capabilities.

Compared to Whole-House Softeners: SoftWaterCare is far more affordable and includes added water purification for extra value.

Do I need to replace the filter or softener?

Yes, regular maintenance ensures optimal performance:

    ACF Filter:

    • For single-person use, replace every 9 months.
    • For two people, replace every 6 months.
    • For three or more, replace every 3 months.

    Water Softener:

    • The softener lasts over 10 years.
    • It needs regular recharging, approximately once a month for single-person use under normal shower frequency. The exact frequency depends on how often and how long you shower, and the hardness of your local water.
