Similar nominal thread sizes are not proof of interchangeability. Use the NPT and BSP identification guide and the exact product drawing. A fixed showerhead, a handheld hose and an inline softener may use different sealing arrangements.
Prepare a reversible installation record
Photograph the original shower arm, head, hose, washers and any visible marking before removal. Label and store original parts together rather than mixing them with spares. Note any pre-existing leak, loose fitting or damaged finish and report it before adding equipment.
Plan the hose path and support with the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid kinks, pull on the shower arm and arrangements that interfere with normal access. Do not use the concealed wall connection to resist tightening force. If it moves, stop and involve the responsible maintenance service.
Use the exact installation procedure
There is no universal hand-tight-plus-turns rule, tape-wrap count or valve position covering every shower softener. Shut down and depressurize only as the relevant instructions specify. Never loosen a hot or pressurized housing to make it easier to turn.
Check that seals are present, clean, correctly seated and compatible. Start verified mating threads squarely by hand, and stop if the connection binds or crosses. Use the specified tools and tightening method; more force is not a substitute for correct fit.

Check three different outcomes after setup
Mechanical condition
Follow the approved startup and leak-check sequence. Watch all visible joints and the support arrangement. Stop if water appears at the wall, a joint moves, a housing is damaged or the control behaves abnormally. No visible leak during one check is not a lifetime guarantee.
Delivered flow

Treatment performance
Use a total-hardness method to compare untreated and treated water under comparable conditions. Record the device's service state and repeat during use. A dry installation and comfortable spray do not prove hardness removal.
Keep maintenance practical
Replacing a filtration cartridge and regenerating softening resin are different tasks. Record the relevant dates and instructions for each. Do not use a generic monthly schedule in place of the model's guidance and measured performance.
Before a move, ask about draining, storage, transport and restart instructions. Restore the original hardware only through an authorized procedure, then check it for leaks. Keep maintenance and move-out records with the product identification so the next setup does not start from guesswork.
